From One moment human

Match racing off the quay at Malmö –

two catamarans burn down a spinnaker run,

careering almost abreast to the mark –

Gannets have gone berserk for feeding –

dive wildly, steadying wings half-spread

until the instant they slice surface.

The river is high and wide but nothing on last week

when it splashed the paving of the facing quay,

and no vessel was allowed – no rowers, taxis,

no dull revellers in their dismal floating cafés.
